  International Conducting Workshop

The Michael Palmer International Conducting Workshop 2008 will be held with the New Atlanta

Philharmonic at the New Atlanta Conservatory in historical Atlanta, Georgia, US in June 25- 29,

2008.

    

   This workshop offers a rigorous course for advanced conductors completing their studies or

   those already in the early stages of their careers; as well as younger conductors,

   advanced instrumentalists and music educators.

  

   They will have a chance to work with two pianos, the Atlanta Sinfonia (AS) and

   the New Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra (NAPO).

 

   The best conductor of the workshop will be invited as a guest conductor with the NAPO

   or AS in the next following season

.

       There is NO AGE LIMIT.

         The course language is English. If you do not speak English, please let us know.

       The course is open to all levels of participants and auditors from student conductors to

         professionals.

       Gain experience and understanding of works from the Classical to Twentieth Century

         repertoire.

       The beat - What works? What doesn't?
       Score Analysis focused towards conductors
       Develop score memorization skill.
       Develop collaboration skills between orchestra and conductor on the podium
       Hold progressive rehearsals with two pianos, a chamber ensemble and the New Atlanta

         Philharmonic Orchestra.
       Build interactive educational conductorship skills.

       After the course, each participant, whether active or auditor, will receive a certificate of

         Participation signed by the Maestro, Michael Palmer.   

 

     Applications are currently being accepted for the Michael Palmer International Conducting

       Workshop 2008. The deadline for priority consideration is June 6, 2008.


   Course

    This workshop offers a rigorous course for advanced conductors completing their studies

     or those  already in the early stages of their careers; as well as younger conductors,

     advanced instrumentalists and music educators.  They will have a chance to work with

     two pianos, the Atlanta Sinfonia (AS, a chamber ensemble) and the New Atlanta Philharmonic

     Orchestra (NAPO).

 

    This workshop is designed to include: Conductor Course, Master Course, Professional Course

     and Auditor.

 

    Enrollments will be limited to a total of 15 conductors and all participants conduct the entire

    repertoire and work with two pianos (all courses), a chamber ensemble (master course) and

    the New Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra (professional course)

 

    All conducting sessions are video taped. DVDs of each session are available to review and

    keep on the same day.

    The classes include sessions in score study, physical movement, career development and

    relax- technique.
